Did you know that the use of energy in the body can help reduce body dysfunction from trauma?
The situation we are in just after the trauma, often isn’t safe to dissipate the traumatic energy. Our instinctive brain figures that out immediately.
Too much energy to release then sets the body into a localization phase where the body concentrates, localizes & “encapsulates” it. This is an energy cyst.
Once encapsulated, the energy cyst interferes with normal electrical conductivity of tissues reducing vitality, creating pain & dysfunction.
According to the late osteopathic doctor, John Upledger, 3 factors determine if the body is able to dissipate the traumatic energy:
1. The quantity of energy may overpower the body’s ability to dissipate it.
2. Previous injuries to the same body region may have compromised its ability to dissipate the energy.
3. Certain emotional states (severe anger, fear, guilt, or other negative emotions) paralyze the body’s ability to dissipate the energy.
What to do if your body is not dissipating the trauma energy?…
Osteopathy has something to offer in your trauma healing journey…
Craniosacral therapy (CST), Somato-Emotional Release (SER) and Visceral therapies are all techniques that I have leaned into, to offer more & more for our BiTS clients on their trauma healing journey. I see profound ways that these therapies help your body dissipate the energy cysts bringing emotional/physical relief that hasn’t been accessible before.
I would love to offer these unique osteopathic supports as a collaborative approach with your counselling or a unique experience alone.
See you soon,
Myron Bedford, ROMP
